Thane: A case has been registered against a mother-son duo for alleged rape and assault on a 36-year-old woman in Thane. The police mentioned it on Tuesday. The Kalwa police registered a first information report based on a complaint under sections 69 ( sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, etc.) and 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, along with other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, an official said.

The police reported that the alleged crime occurred between June 6, 2023, and February 2025. The complainant claims that the accused, a resident of Kalwa, befriended her on social media and lured her into a physical relationship by promising marriage.
The accused, who was already married, allegedly raped the woman on multiple occasions with his mother's knowledge, the official said. He also added that the victim saw photographs of other women on the accused's mobile phone and confronted him, and he assaulted her. The police are probing into the allegations, and no arrests have been made so far, as per PTI report.

The victim, Vishnu Pal, a Navi Mumbai resident, was trapped inside the wrecked vehicle. Rescue crews spent nearly two hours freeing him from the debris. He was taken to a nearby civic hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
