Thane:An elderly couple and their son were injured after the roof of their second-floor flat collapsed in a 30-year-old building at Om Krishna Cooperative Housing Society in Kalwa, Thane. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, led to the evacuation of 100 residents from 30 flats.
The civic body had previously categorised this building as unsafe, dangerous, and uninhabitable, recommending it be vacated and demolished. The injured, identified as Mayur Dandekar, 40, Manisha Dandekar, 65, and Manohar Dandekar, 75, were in the hall after completing their dinner when the collapse happened.

Upon receiving the alert, local fire brigade personnel and the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) team promptly initiated a rescue operation. The evacuated residents were moved to safer locations.
An official stated that the injured were admitted to a local hospital for treatment and the building has been sealed. The civic officials will determine the future course of action for the building.
