Terrifying Video: 3 Run For Life As Gas Balloons Explode Inside Lift In Mumbai's Goregaon Residential Building

Mumbai: In a terrifying incident, a bunch of gas-filled balloons exploded inside a lift in Mumbai's Goregaon West. The incident occurred at Anmol Tower, and the entire explosion was caught on the elevator’s CCTV camera.

According to the footage, the blast incident took place on Monday, February 2, at around 10.51 pm. In the CCTV footage, a woman is first seen entering the lift with a suitcase, followed by a man carrying a huge bunch of gas-filled balloons wrapped in a plastic bag. As another man enters, a large blast breaks out inside the lift. The three people are seen rushing out for their lives, trying to escape.

After the incident, the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, and the police have registered a case against the balloon vendor for negligence. According to an NDTV report, a man and a woman suffered burn injuries. Currently, it is not known which gas was filled inside the balloon which led to the explosion.

Speaking of safety concerns, helium-filled balloons are safer options as they are non-flammable compared to the extremely flammable hydrogen-filled balloons. As hydrogen ignites easily, these gas-filled balloons can pose a risk of explosion. Mostly, for any functions, helium-filled balloons are used.

Meanwhile, in Thane, on February 3, two persons were injured and more than 70 trapped people were rescued after a fire broke out in an electric duct of an 18-storey residential building.

The blaze was reported at 4.14 am on the 10th floor of the Milan Hill building in Shastri Nagar locality, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said. The fire spread through the electric duct between the 10th and 13th floors, causing heavy smoke inside the building.
