Speeding Biker Collides With Bus While Overtaking Vehicle In Mumbai's Aarey Colony; Dies

Mumbai: A young biker lost his life in a tragic accident at Aarey Milk Colony, Goregaon East, on February 8. The victim, in his late 20s, was riding his two-wheeler when he collided with a bus on the newly constructed cement concrete main road while overtaking a vehicle next to him. The incident has reignited demands from local residents for traffic calming measures, such as speed breakers and stricter speed restrictions, to prevent further accidents.
Speeding & Lack Of Traffic Measures
According to a Mid-day report, Laxman Jadhav, a friend of the deceased, shared details of the incident. "On Saturday, my friend Arun Kavandar was heading to Goregaon to collect some documents. Realizing he had forgotten one, he took a turn on the main road and attempted to overtake a vehicle when his bike crashed into an oncoming bus," he said. The incident, Jadhav added, highlights the urgent need for speed restrictions and traffic control measures in the area.

Another Accident Reported In Aarey Last Month
This is not the first accident in Aarey Colony this year. On January 5, 18-year-old college student Sahil Jhujham was killed when a speeding truck, driven by 45-year-old Sirajuddin Mohammed Ayub Aga Syed, collided with a motorcycle. Sahil, who was riding pillion, sustained fatal injuries, while the motorcyclist, Mahendra Ingle, 21, was seriously injured.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 9 pm near Picnic Garden in Aarey Colony. Witnesses reported that the truck driver was speeding and recklessly changing lanes before crashing into the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The driver initially fled the scene but was later arrested. Investigations revealed that neither the driver nor the victims were under the influence of alcohol and no prior cases were registered against Syed.
Passersby rushed Sahil to Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri East, where doctors declared him dead. His body was later taken to Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon West for a post-mortem.
