Shiv Sena Row: Complaint filed against Sanjay Raut over remarks against CM Eknath Shinde

The Thane City and Nashik police have registered a case against Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) Shiv-Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Monday, February 20 for allegedly making a derogatory remarks against Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday during the media interaction.

On Sunday at around 11:50 pm the Eknath Shinde faction office bearer Yogesh Beldar lodged a complaint at Panchavati police station alleging that during an interaction with a TV channel, Raut used derogatory words against CM Shinde and maligned his image.

The Panchavati police station officer said, " Based on the complaint from Yogesh Beldar we have registered case against Raut under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 500 (defamation)."

The Thane City police registered a case against Sanjay Raut after the protest from the women wings of Eknath Shinde faction at Thane on Sunday night. The women wings demanded the arrest of Raut for his derogatory remarks on chief minister Eknath Shinde.

Jawahar Ranaware, senior police inspector of Thane City police station said, " The non-cognizable case has been registered against Sanjay Raut after the demand from the BSS Shiv-Sena women wings."

Earlier on Saturday the Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit in Pune said, " Those who chose to lick the soles of people with opposite ideologies have found which side truth was on after the Election Commission (EC) declared the faction headed by CM Eknath Shinde as the real Shiv-Sena and gave it Bow-Arrow symbol.

When the media personnel asked Sanjay Raut about Shah's remark on Sunday he said, " What is the present chief minister Eknath Shinde licking? Maharashtra doesn't give importance to what Shah says."

Raut on Sunday on his twitter handle wrote, "Deal of Rs 2000 crore has taken place so far to purchase the Shiv-Sena party name and it's bow and arrow symbol."

The party-bearers from BJP and BSS dismissed a charge by Raut.

Naresh Mhaske, BSS spokesperson from Thane said, " Sanjay Raut is telling anything without thinking. He need to visit a mental hospital for the treatment."
