Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Waikar Flags Rising Bangladeshi Infiltration In Mumbai
The issue of Bangladeshi and Rohingya individuals obtaining birth certificates through forged documents has emerged as a serious concern. In 2024, out of 214,305 applications received, 129,906 birth certificates were issued, raising fears of potential threats to law and order as well as national security.

Mumbai: Amid growing concerns over the increasing presence of Bangladeshi infiltrators in Mumbai and Maharashtra, Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha MP Ravindra Waikar raised the issue during a meeting of the Mumbai Suburban District Planning Committee. The police department informed the committee that a total of 662 Bangladeshi infiltrators have been deported over the past five years.
The issue of Bangladeshi and Rohingya individuals obtaining birth certificates through forged documents has emerged as a serious concern. In 2024, out of 214,305 applications received, 129,906 birth certificates were issued, raising fears of potential threats to law and order as well as national security.
In response, MP Waikar had previously written to the state’s Social Justice Department minister, urging action.Waikar emphasized the need for a police survey to identify Bangladeshi infiltrators, stating that such measures could help curb drug trafficking and other illegal activities.

In a written response, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dattatray Kamble assured that authorities, including officers from all Mumbai police stations, Crime Branch, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Special Branch-1, and other units, are actively cracking down on undocumented infiltrators. Suspected infiltrators are identified and deported as part of these operations.Kamble confirmed that over the past five years, 662 Bangladeshi infiltrators have been deported from Mumbai. The police continue to take stringent action to address the issue, ensuring the safety and security of the region.
