Mumbai: A couple from Goregaon narrowly escaped a serious accident on Saturday evening, just 15 minutes after being advised by a traffic constable to wear seat belts.
Gautam Rohra, 44, and his wife Chhaya, 42, both senior executives at a private company, were returning home from Deonar around 4 pm. At Kalanagar in Bandra, they were stopped by traffic policeman Praveen Kshirsagar, 35, for not wearing seat belts.
While initially warned of a fine, Kshirsagar instead explained the importance of seat belts for safety during accidents. Chhaya immediately fastened her seat belt, and the couple thanked him. Just 15 minutes later, near the Andheri East flyover, their car skidded on the wet road and hit a divider, overturning twice.
Despite the impact, both survived; Gautam with minor injuries and Chhaya completely unharmed due to seat belts. A nearby policeman helped them reach the hospital and secured their valuables.
