Palghar: Four killed after car collides with bus on highway; visuals of mangled car surface

Four people died when the car they were travelling in crashed into a bus moving in the opposite direction near Shree Mahalaxmi Mandir near Dahanu on Mumbai -Ahmedabad National Highway. around 3.15 am on Tuesday. Two of the deceased are NRIs from the UK.

This comes in the wake of an accident in the same area on January 8, which resulted in the death of three people and injuries to four.

The Skoda sedan, which was headed for Mumbai on January 31, crossed into the opposite lane in Palghar district and hit a luxury bus travelling towards Gujarat.

The driver of the luxury bus and three others in the vehicle were injured.

The accident was so severe that gas cutters had to be used by the police to remove the bodies and take the injured out of the vehicles to the sub-district hospital at Kasa.

The deceased, residents of Bardoli taluka of Surat, were identified as Mohammad Abdul Salam Hafizji (36) (driver), Ibrahim Dawood (60), Aasiyaben Collector (57) and Ismail Mohommad Desay (42).

Ibrahim Dawood (60) and Aasiyaben Collector (57) were non-resident Indians from the UK and were on the way to Mumbai Airport to travel back to the UK. All four people in the car were staying in the same locality at Bardoli. The relatives of the deceased claimed the bodies in the afternoon and took them to Bardoli.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
