The incident was reported at around 8.30 am when an unknown person placed the iron piece on the down-track and fled the scene. The motorman of a Thane-Nerul local spotted the obstruction and immediately applied the brakes.

Vashi Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered a case against an unidentified individual for attempting to disrupt rail services and endanger passengers by placing a four-foot-long iron rail piece on the Trans-Harbour railway tracks between Juinagar and Nerul last Saturday morning. A major accident was averted due to the timely action of the local train’s motorman.
The incident was reported at around 8.30 am when an unknown person placed the iron piece on the down-track and fled the scene. The motorman of a Thane-Nerul local spotted the obstruction and immediately applied the brakes. Despite his quick response, the train struck the metal piece, causing damage to the cattle guard, which bent and cracked. As a precautionary measure, the train was halted, and passengers had to walk to Nerul railway station. The disruption affected local train services on the Trans-Harbour route during peak morning hours.
