Navi Mumbai, August 21, 2026: Several roads in Kharghar will face traffic restrictions on Sunday, August 23, between 4 am and 11 am as the Panvel Municipal Corporation organises the Kharghar Hill Mayor Marathon. Around 4,500 participants are expected to take part in the 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km races.

The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police has decided to close one side of the roads along the marathon routes, while keeping the other side open for two-way traffic. The restrictions have been imposed to prevent congestion and accidents and to ensure the smooth movement of emergency and other vehicles.

Affected Road Stretches

The affected stretches include Central Park-Gurudwara-J Kumar Circle-Owegaon Police Chowki, J Kumar Circle-B.D. Somani Chowk-Vinayak Seth Chowk, Central Park-Gram Vikas Chowk-Utsav Chowk-Belpada-RBI Metro Station and Gurudwara-Owegaon Chowk-Taloja Jail-Papdichapada.

The marathon routes will also cover major locations including ISKCON Temple, Tawa Hotel, Utsav Chowk, Belpada Metro Station, RBI Metro Station, Phanaswadi Hill, Owegaon and Taloja Jail.

Traffic Police Advisory

“Traffic arrangements have been planned to ensure that the marathon is conducted smoothly while minimising inconvenience to motorists. Commuters are requested to plan their journeys in advance, follow the traffic diversions and instructions of traffic personnel, and cooperate with the police,” said Dr Rahul Khade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Navi Mumbai.

According to the traffic notification, vehicles travelling from Central Park towards Gram Vikas Signal, Utsav Chowk and RBI Metro Station will be allowed to use the available carriageway as a two-way traffic route.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the marathon stretches during the restriction period wherever possible and plan their journeys accordingly.
