Navi Mumbai: Days after a 12-year-old girl was found abandoned at Ghansoli railway station by the Vashi Government Railway Police (GRP), a medical examination confirmed that the minor had been sexually assaulted.
About The Case
The girl was found crying alone on the platform at Ghansoli railway station around 3 pm on Sunday, and could not identify herself or her family. “When the police personnel on patrol duty questioned her, she seemed to be clueless about her family, said a police official. Despite reviewing CCTV footage from the station, no substantial evidence was found.
A rape case has been registered under the sections of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. “The girl has been moved to a shelter home, and police are working to locate her family and identify the accused,” senior police inspector Rajesh Shinde from Vashi GRP.
