As part of this initiative, CIDCO has upgraded the entire Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) infrastructure to accommodate QR code-based paper tickets. The system has been designed and commissioned by M/s Aurionpro Solutions Pvt. Ltd., under the supervision of CIDCO and the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.
The QR ticketing system is aimed at offering a seamless, efficient, and user-friendly experience to metro passengers by simplifying entry and exit processes through QR code scanning.
To further enhance the commuting experience in the future, CIDCO is planning to introduce several new features. "A dedicated mobile ticketing app will be launched, allowing commuters to purchase metro tickets conveniently using their smartphones. Additionally, passengers will soon have the option to buy tickets directly through WhatsApp, offering greater accessibility and ease of use. Moreover, the system will eventually support the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), which will provide a unified payment solution across different modes of public transport," a statement released by CIDCO stated.
