CIDCO launched the housing scheme on January 26 for 5,730 houses (tenements) in the Taloja node. Later the planning agency increased the number of houses from Dronagiri to Ghansoli, Kalamboli, and Kharghar. The draw for a total of 6,508 houses was held on Friday.

Shinde said that the investments made in buying houses in Navi Mumbai will yield a good benefit due to various ambitious projects including Navi Mumbai International Airport. He also congratulated the successful applicants who won the houses in the draw.

Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, Vice-chairman, and Managing Director, CIDCO briefed about the various features of the housing scheme and said that is a step towards fulfilling CIDCO’s mission of providing affordable housing. He added that a committee was appointed under the observation of Suresh Kumar, Ex-Lokayukta to supervise the computerized draw process.

The applicants who won the houses in the draw expressed a satisfactory feeling of owning a house in a city like Navi Mumbai with well-developed infrastructure facilities.

Out of the total 6,508 houses, 1,905 houses were available for the economically weaker sections and 4,603 houses were for the general category. The housing scheme received an overwhelming response from the citizens.

“In the lottery process, three representatives from the applicants are involved as moderators. During the draw, the list of eligible applicants and flats is randomly mixed. The process is highly transparent and ensures fair and equal opportunities for all applicants,” said an official from CIDCO.

He added that the list of the successful applicants for the housing scheme has been published on CIDCO’s website https://lottery.cidcoindia.com.
