Navi Mumbai Crime: Unidentified Person Booked After Abandoned Drone Found Inside ONGC Facility In Panvel; Probe Underway
Panvel City police has booked unidentified person for disobedience to orders duly promulgated by public servant after an abandoned drone was found in behind the area of process lab of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Panvel.

Navi Mumbai: Panvel City police has booked unidentified person for disobedience to orders duly promulgated by public servant after an abandoned drone was found in behind the area of process lab of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Panvel.
The incident came to light when the drone was found fallen inside the restricted premises of the ONGC facility. The unauthorized activity was discovered around 4.45 on April 16.
“The drone was spotted lying at the rear section of the Process Lab within ONGC Phase 2, which is designated as a high-security and no-fly zone,” a police officer from Panvel City Police Station said.
According to the police, the unidentified individual operated the drone without obtaining any prior permission from the authorities. This act violated the orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, which strictly prohibits the use of drones over sensitive installations like ONGC.

Following the incident, Panvel City Police registered a case under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code along with Sections 134 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act against the unknown person. The police have sent the drone to the lab to ascertain if it is a toy or a functional drone and the results are awaited.
