Navi Mumbai: An ATM operator working with Hitachi Cash Management Services Pvt. Ltd. has been arrested by Kalamboli Police for allegedly embezzling Rs 1.90 crore over a four-month period by not depositing the assigned cash into ATM machines. The accused, identified as Dhanraj Jitendra Bhoir, was entrusted with loading cash in ATMs located in Kamothe, Kalamboli, and Kharghar.
Between February 26 and June 30, Bhoir was responsible for replenishing multiple ATMs with cash received from various banks. However, instead of depositing the full amount, he allegedly siphoned off a portion during each refill. In total, Rs 1.90 crore was misappropriated during this period.
The fraud came to light after Hitachi Cash Management Services noticed discrepancies in ATM balances. A detailed audit of the past six months revealed that the cash shortfall was specifically in ATMs managed by Bhoir. Upon confirming the embezzlement, company officials immediately filed a complaint with Kalamboli Police.
