Navi Mumbai:A 25-year-old Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel was arrested by Vashi police for allegedly stalking and misbehaving with schoolgirls.
The accused, Suraj Kumar Jagat Ram, who resided in the CISF colony in Vashi, had been lurking around a local school for 15 days and tried to engage with teenage girls after school hours, causing fear among students. A girl later spotted him at a vegetable market in Sector-9A and informed her parents, leading to his apprehension and subsequent handover to the Vashi police.
Accused arrested under POCSO Act
After investigations, a case was registered against the CISF personnel under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Subsequent investigations unveiled that Kumar had stalked several other schoolgirls in the Vashi area and made inappropriate advances, resulting in five complaints filed against him.
Notably, Kumar, a constable in the CISF, had faced suspension from the CISF ranks for prior misconduct, prompting an ongoing internal inquiry.
