Nagpur Crime News: Police Arrest 52-Year-Old Doctor For Murdering Wife

NAGPUR: The Nagpur city police arrested a doctor and his younger brother in connection with the murder of the doctor’s wife on Sunday. Dr Archana Rahule, a senior assistant professor in the physiotherapy department at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur. The police investigation revealed that the murder was driven by the husband’s growing suspicions about his wife’s fidelity.

Dr Archana's decomposed body, aged 50, was discovered on the night of April 12 after neighbours reported a foul odour coming from her house in Hudkeshwar. She had been living alone, as her husband, Dr Anil Rahule, aged 52, worked at a private medical college in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, while their son, Aditya, was studying in Pune as a third-year MBBS student, as per a Hindustan Times report.

Anil claimed he returned from Raipur around 9:30 pm on April 12 and found the door to their house open, with Archana lying lifeless on the bed. He reported to the police that she had suffered a head injury and that the house appeared to have been ransacked, suggesting a robbery gone wrong.

However, the investigation revealed inconsistencies in Anil’s account. Despite his claims of a loving relationship and shock at the murder, his behaviour raised suspicions. He was unable to explain why he hadn't tried to contact his wife for three days prior to finding her body, as per the report.

Further analysis of his mobile phone records showed that he had been in Nagpur on April 9, contradicting his claim of being in Raipur. This prompted further questioning, during which Anil confessed to planning his wife’s murder, with the help of his younger brother, Raju Rahule, aged 48, a farmer from Khairlanji village in Bhandara district.
