Mumbai: Urdu Markaz To Host 'Kaifi Azmi Walk' In Madanpura, Exploring Literary And Political Heritage

Urdu Markaz will organise a 'Kaifi Azmi Walk' in Madanpura, the once-bustling textile loom centre in the city on Sunday, January 12.
The walk, part of the 'Urdu-Marathi Tehzeeb Yatra', will guide walkers through Madanpura in central Mumbai, once a bustling textile loom centre. The area was also a literary and political hub, with the Progressive Writers' Movement, also known as the 'Taraqqi Pasand Tehreek', and Mohammad Ali Jinnah's Muslim League having based here.

The walk will start from Urdu Markaz, Madanpura, and take participants to Mehboob Khan's Shipra Tabela, the Communist Party office, Hindustan Urdu Daily office at Nagpada, Khada Parsi monument, Manto s Adelphi Chambers residence on Clare Road, to Comrade Maqsood's Navjawan Party office in Madanpura, and culminating at Awami Adara Left commune.
