In a tragic incident, Surendra Modi (77), a well-known senior crime reporter with a Gujarati newspaper, allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of Yusuf Mahal building in Lohar Chawl near Crawford Market on Monday.

Mumbai: In a tragic incident, Surendra Modi (77), a well-known senior crime reporter with a Gujarati newspaper, allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of Yusuf Mahal building in Lohar Chawl near Crawford Market on Monday.

According to Police, His body was shifted to GT Hospital for a postmortem examination. A forensic team reached the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

According to police officials, Modi was unmarried and lived alone. A suicide note was recovered from the spot, in which he did not hold anyone responsible for his death.

LT Marg Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and are treating it as a case of suicide. Further investigation is underway.
