A 46-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident after a speeding gas tanker collided with his scooter on the Sion-Panvel Highway in Govandi on August 12. The deceased has been identified as Mangesh Pandharinath Yashwante, a resident of Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Mumbai: A 46-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident after a speeding gas tanker collided with his scooter on the Sion-Panvel Highway in Govandi on August 12. The deceased has been identified as Mangesh Pandharinath Yashwante, a resident of Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Fatal Collision in Govandi

According to the FIR filed at the Govandi Police Station by police constable Nitin Sawale, 38, the incident occurred around 6:25 PM at R.K. Chowk. The gas tanker (MH 04 JK 2235), allegedly moving at high speed, hit Yashwante's two-wheeler (MH 43 BZ 9028) from behind.

High-Speed Impact Claims Life

The impact caused Yashwante to fall onto the road, and the front wheels of the tanker reportedly ran over him, resulting in grievous injuries. Eyewitnesses immediately alerted the police and managed to stop the tanker from fleeing the scene. Govandi Police rushed to the spot and moved the victim to Rajawadi Municipal Hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors.

Accused Booked Under BNS and MV Act

The tanker driver, identified as Ashok Subhash Khile, 40, a resident of Ruikhel, Mandavgan, in Ahmednagar district, has been booked for rash and negligent driving under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
