Mumbai: Tension Erupts After Eggs Allegedly Thrown At Mazgaon Cha Morya Ganpati Aagman Procession, FIR Registered; VIDEOS Show Enraged Mob

Mumbai: Tension briefly prevailed in the Mazgaon area during a Ganpati arrival procession after eggs were allegedly thrown from a neighbouring building. The incident took place during the arrival procession of the ‘Mazgaoncha Morya’ Ganpati Mandal.

According to office-bearers of the mandal, some unidentified persons allegedly threw eggs towards the procession from a building located around 30 to 40 metres from the mandal’s pandal. The incident triggered anger among devotees and local residents, leading to a heated argument between two groups.

Mumbai Police immediately rushed to the spot and deployed additional personnel to prevent the situation from escalating. Police appealed to both groups to remain calm.

DCP Jayant Meena said: “Yesterday, during the Ganpati procession in Mazgaon, an incident occurred, following which an offence has been registered under Sections 299 and 196 of the BNS. Investigation is underway. Police personnel were present at the spot, and the situation is currently peaceful and under control.”

The Byculla Police Station has registered a case against an unidentified person.

The mandal has condemned the incident, calling it highly objectionable and an act that hurt the sentiments of devotees. It has demanded strict and immediate legal action against those responsible.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the person who allegedly threw the eggs and determine the circumstances and motive behind the incident.

In view of the sensitive situation, the authorities have appealed to citizens not to believe or spread rumours and to maintain peace. The situation in the area is currently peaceful and under control.
