According to Chauhan's statement, the threatening email was received on Thursday at 1:30 PM from the ID Moroz Anna Viktorivna (elgaras@giva.lt). The email, written in Russian, explicitly threatened to bomb the RBI.
The email caused panic within the bank, prompting the RBI’s security team to alert Mumbai Police and other relevant authorities, leading to significant tightening of security measures. Upon receiving the information, Mumbai Police began investigating the email and its origins.
A case has been registered against the unknown accused under sections 353(1), 351(3), and 351(4) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to trace the sender and prevent any potential threat.
This is not the first time the RBI has been threatened. Last month, a caller contacted the RBI's customer care number, identified himself as the CEO of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and issued a bomb threat. Before hanging up, the caller also made cryptic comments about sealing the backdoor and issues with an electric car at the gate. Authorities are treating the current threat seriously and are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and security of the RBI and its surroundings.
