Mumbai Rains: Water Levels In Seven Lakes Of City Cross 75% Stock Due To Heavy Rainfall
Due to significant rainfall in the catchment areas, Mumbai's water supply lakes have seen increased levels, with current reservoir stock at 75.16 percent, according to BMC data.

Mumbai: Following substantial rainfall in their catchment areas, the water levels in the lakes that supply drinking water to Mumbai have risen. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data reveals that the total stock in the seven reservoirs supplying water to the city is currently at 75.16 percent.
The overall water volume in the seven lakes reached 1,087,865 million litres (ML) on Sunday. Among the reservoirs, Upper Vaitarna noted a level of 601.80 metres, holding a live storage of 172,022 ML, while Modak Sagar and Tansa indicated 128,925 ML and 116,653 ML respectively. Middle Vaitarna had a water reserve of 179,675 ML, while Bhatsa, the main supplier, retained 473,010 ML. Vehar and Tulsi held 13,478 ML and 4,102 ML, respectively.
The total storage in Upper Vaitarna, Vaitarna, Tansa, and Middle Vaitarna is 597,275 ML, with 85.99 percent of the total capacity in use. The Bhandup Complex has recorded a total rainfall of 730.00 mm this season, with 18.00 mm noted on the reporting day.
Ongoing water release from lakes and gate operations includes the Upper Vaitarna release that started on July 5 and the Middle Vaitarna gate openings that began on July 7.
