Mumbai Rains: Atal Setu Bridge Hit By Dust Storm; Video Surfaces

On Monday evening, some parts of the Mumbai metropolitan region witnessed rainfall and a dust storm. Visuals showing the recently-opened Atal Setu bridge facing the weather condition has surfaced on social media. The video showed the roadway observing low visibility as the air turned dusty and unclear. However, the rains were bringing some relief to the scorching heat.

The video was captured a commuter travelling on the route. Identified as V Raj, the X user mentioned himself to be "caught in the midst of a wild storm" at the Atal Setu. He shared the clip alerting Mumbaikars about a dust storm on the bridge that connects Mumbai with Navi Mumbai. He pointed out at how the dusty winds adversely influenced the visibility there and made driving troublesome.

"Visibility is next to none! Stay safe out there, folks," he wrote while uploading the footage on X. The clip showed the air to have turned dusty brown. Strong wind was seen breezing through the lanes, which even carried objects appearing to be either paper or plastic flying and tossing around. The video recorded the signboard and signals being faintly visible due to the sudden stormy weather.

Mumbai weather in May 2024

The Indian Meteorological Department predicted Mumbai to witness rain showers during mid-May, and said light drizzles can be expected around May 12. In line with the weather forecast, Mumbai witnessed a cloudy sky and dust storm alongside few parts of the city enjoying early monsoon.
