Mumbai Police Nab 59-Year-Old Serial Thief, Recover ₹2.46 Lakh Within 24 Hours
The incident came to light when Jitendra Bhansali, the shop owner, filed a complaint with VP Road Police, stating that someone had stolen ₹2.46 lakh from his shop. Acting swiftly, the police began searching for the suspect in the Nagpada, JJ Marg, LT Marg, and DB Marg areas.

Mumbai: The VP Road Police arrested a 59-year-old man on charges of theft within 24 hours of the incident. The accused, identified as Mohammed Jafar Sheikh, allegedly broke into a shop by cutting the shutter and stole ₹2.46 lakh.
The incident came to light when Jitendra Bhansali, the shop owner, filed a complaint with VP Road Police, stating that someone had stolen ₹2.46 lakh from his shop. Acting swiftly, the police began searching for the suspect in the Nagpada, JJ Marg, LT Marg, and DB Marg areas.
During the search, the police spotted a 59-year-old man carrying a suspicious bag. Upon checking the bag, the officers found tools used for cutting shutters and the stolen ₹2.46 lakh.
13 Previous Criminal Cases:
Upon further investigation, the police discovered that Mohammed Jafar Sheikh had a criminal record with 13 cases filed against him. Out of these, two cases resulted in acquittal, two cases were dismissed, and nine cases are still under trial.
With this swift action, the police not only solved the theft case within 24 hours but also recovered the entire stolen amount. Sheikh has been booked for theft and housebreaking, and further investigation into his past criminal activities is ongoing.
