Mumbai: Panic gripped the city on Saturday after two separate bomb threat emails were reported — one at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and another at Nair Hospital. Police later confirmed that both threats turned out to be hoaxes.

According to officials, at 9:45 am, the airport’s official email ID received a message claiming that a bomb had been planted inside a washroom. Constable Angad from the airport staff immediately alerted the Main Control Room via the hotline at 10:20 am. Following protocol, a Level-3 Bomb Threat (BTC) Committee meeting was convened and Sahar Police Station was informed.

An Anti-Terrorism Committee (ATC) team, along with Sahar Police, rushed to the spot and carried out a detailed inspection. At 10:35 am, SI Gautam from Sahar Airport reported that a thorough search of the washroom yielded nothing suspicious.

Later in the evening, another bomb threat email surfaced — this time targeting Nair Hospital. Around 9:30 pm, hospital dean Dr. Shailesh Mohite received a threatening email from idthozharleelavathy@outlook.com, warning that a bomb would be detonated on the premises. The hospital authorities informed Agripada Police Station around 10:20 am the following morning.

A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team conducted an extensive sweep of Nair Hospital and surrounding areas but found no explosive devices. The matter has since been reported to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) control room.

Police confirmed that both incidents were false alarms but said investigations are underway to trace the origin of the emails and identify the sender.
