Mumbai Police issues prohibitory order ahead of PM Modi's Feb 10 visit; drones, other flying activities banned

Mumbai: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mumbai on February 10, the Mumbai Police issued a preventive order banning flying objects in the skies of Marol, Andheri, Colaba and CSMT; the places which are likely to be visited by the premier. A police

official said that an alert has been issued in the city under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) section 144. The city force is working closely with the central agencies to ensure that there is no lapse in security arrangements during the PM's visit.

Suspected terrorists or anti-social elements attack

Issuing the order, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Shyam Ghuge said that flying of drones, kites, small aircraft and balloons have been banned in Sahar, Colaba, MIDC, CSMT, and INS Shikara areas for the whole day on February 10. The ban has been planned as it's being suspected that terrorists or anti-social elements can attack using drones, paragliders, remote-controlled micro lights and aircraft and cause damage to human life, security and public property. 

In the forthcoming visit of the PM, some of the key events include flagging off Vande Bharat trains on routes between Mumbai, Shirdi and Solapur. He is also likely to visit the Indian naval base in Colaba.

On January 19, Modi was in the city to lay the foundation stone of several projects and inaugurate Metro 2A and 7 lines.
