Mumbai News: Shivaji Nagar Senior Inspector Caught Taking ₹1 Lakh Bribe By ACB In School Protection Case
According to the ACB, the complainant is a joint secretary of a trust. On 25/08/2024 some people had attempted to gain illegal possession of the institution by breaking the gate lock of the school of the said trust and forcibly entering the school office.

The Mumbai Unit of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Senior Police Inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station, for allegedly accepting a Rs 1 lakh of the total bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh that he had allegedly demanded from a school’s trustee in return of providing police services for helping him in a legal matter.
According to the ACB, the complainant is a joint secretary of a trust. On 25/08/2024 some people had attempted to gain illegal possession of the institution by breaking the gate lock of the school of the said trust and forcibly entering the school office. In this regard, the complainant had filed a complaint with the Charity Commissioner's office and Shivajinagar Police Station, Mumbai.
"Accordingly, the complainant went to Shivajinagar Police Station and met Bapurao Madhukar Deshmukh, Senior Police Inspector on 22/04/2025. The complainant has alleged that senior inspector Deshmukh had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in order to keep the opponents away from entering the school until the final order of the Charity Commissioner comes, for providing police protection and to file a case against the opponents," the ACB official stated.

"At the said time, when the complainant said that he was only looking after the work of the trust and that his complaint was genuine, senior inspector Deshmukh told him that a minimum of Rs 3 lakh will have to paid and only then a case would be registered. Accordingly, after discussing with the officials of the said trust, the complainant on 13/05/2025, visited the ACB office and lodged a complaint in the matter," the official further stated.
A verification into the allegations made by the complainant revealed that senior inspector had initially demanded a bribe of Rs 3 lakh and later settled the amount for Rs 2.50 lakh. A trap was laid by the ACB team and senior inspector Deshmukh was caught red-handed while accepting first installment of bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant on Tuesday. A case has been registered by the ACB against Deshmukh under the relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
