Mumbai: The Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch on Thursday arrested notorious gangster Suresh Pujari in connection with an extortion case involving threats made to a hotelier. Pujari was arrested from Thane Jail, where he is currently lodged in connection with other cases.
Confirming the arrest, Police Officer stated that Pujari has been booked in a 2020 case where he not only threatened a hotel businessman over the phone but also demanded extortion money from him. Initially demanding ₹3 lakh, Pujari allegedly settled for ₹50,000. The gangster had been wanted in this case for the past five years.
Police sources said that the investigation is ongoing to uncover more details about Pujari’s involvement and possible accomplices.
