Mumbai: A fire broke out at a sports store near the Metro Cinema at Marine Lines on Wednesday. The fire department and local police rushed at the spot immediately after the incident was reported. Visuals from the site show smoke coming out of the store, which the fire department trying to douse off the fire.
No one was injured in the incident at the shop, located on the ground floor of the five-storey Chaman Chambers in Dhobi Talao area, an official told PTI.
Five fire brigade vehicles, including three fire engines, have reached the spot and efforts are on to douse the blaze, the official said. The sports goods shop sits close to Metro Cinema, a city landmark.
"There has been no report of any injury to anyone," the official said, adding that more details about the incident are awaited.
Another Fire Incident Reported Last Week
Around 25-30 people were rescued on August 4 from a ground plus 22-storey building after a fire erupted at the 16th floor of the high-rise, said fire brigade officials, adding that no one was injured in the mishap.
The incident, which occurred at around 10 am, was reported from the Orchid Suburbia building in Dahanukarwadi, Kandivali West. There are six buildings in the premises and the fire broke out in D wing.
Neighbours Alert Fire Brigade
As per a fire official, a woman staying in the flat had gone somewhere when the blaze erupted. The neighbours alerted the fire brigade after noticing smoke coming out of the flat. Since one team from the Kandivali fire station was already pressed into service following a minor fire at another place, extra vehicles were called from the Borivali fire station, he said.
