Mumbai: A video circulating on social media depicts a vehicle crossing a divider to reach the opposite side of the road in violation of traffic regulations. This footage, filmed in Four Bunglows market area in Andheri West, shows an X user urging authorities to penalize the car owner for their recklessness, which could have endangered many lives.
The X page posted the video with a caption that read, "Andheri West 4 bungalows market Jumping over a divider How crazy can you get @MTPHereToHelp Can you fine the vehicle owner For Endangering others safety" tagging the official X account of Mumbai Traffic Police.
The official X account of Andheri Lokhandwala & Oshiwara Versova Residents Organisation (@AndheriLOCA) shared a video of a Mahindra Scorpio N attempting to drive over the divider rather than using the nearby turnaround point meant for u-turns and lane changes.
The recording was made by the vehicle trailing behind the black Mahindra Scorpio N that was registered in UP according to the number plate seen in the video. As the driver attempted to scale the divider that separates traffic moving in opposite directions.
From the video evidence, it appears that the vehicle aimed to cross the road to enter a housing society on the other side, but instead of utilizing the upcoming u-turn, the driver opted to ascend the divider and turn right, partially obstructing both lanes. The vehicle turned the right indicator and continued to repeatedly try and jump the divider about 3-4 times before ultimately managing to make the turn while other cars cautiously passed through the narrow space left by it.
The Mumbai Traffic Police responded to the video posted by the official X handle of Andheri Lokhandwala & Oshiwara Versova Residents Organisation stating that the information has been sent to the respected police station, D. N. Nagar Traffic Division. The response recieved backlash in the comment section as the X users demanded action and proof of e-challan that was generated to fine the car owner.
