Mumbai: A 36-year-old government employee identified as Pankaj Keshav ended his life by suicide in Antop Hill on Sunday. The deceased man was an officer posted at the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), who jumped off the 4th floor of the Sai Co-op. Housing Society in the area. He is said to be survived by two children.
Rings doorbell before ending life
Residents of the housing society pointed out that the man was not a member of the building and said that he entered the premises that evening, tried ringing one of the doorbells on the fourth floor, and ended up jumping off from the staircase lobby after receiving no answer.
Dies at hospital
He was initially injured by his suicide attempt and rushed to the Sion hospital thereafter. Hours later, the hospital declared him to be dead.
The police confirmed the suicide case and informed that Pankaj was facing hallucinations. It was also noted that he was dealing with mental health concerns and resorted to alcohol consumption habitually.
Sources informed FPJ that the officer had recently received a work transfer and shifted to the Churchgate office. However, he visited Antop Hill (where he resided earlier) on Sunday and took his life by jumping off the building.
