Mumbai Ganeshotsav 2025: BMC To Train Sarvajanik Mandal Volunteers For Crowd Management, Fire Safety & Emergency Response
BMC will organise a one-day training workshop for volunteers from Sarvajanik (public) Ganeshotsav Mandals. The goal of this training is to prevent accidents during the festival, manage large crowds safely and improve emergency preparedness at the community level. Volunteers will learn how to handle emergencies, follow safety guidelines, and help ensure a safe and well-organised Ganesh festival.

Mumbai: The BMC will organise a one-day training workshop for volunteers from Sarvajanik (public) Ganeshotsav Mandals. The goal of this training is to prevent accidents during the festival, manage large crowds safely and improve emergency preparedness at the community level. Volunteers will learn how to handle emergencies, follow safety guidelines, and help ensure a safe and well-organised Ganesh festival.
This year, Ganeshotsav will be celebrated from August 27 to September 6. As per the Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti, there are 12,000 Sarvajanik mandals and 50,000 household idols. Lakhs of devotees and tourists visit the city during this period, leading to heavy crowds at festival sites. To ensure safety and preparedness, the BMC Disaster Management Cell will conduct a one-day training for volunteers.
The training will cover crowd management, accident prevention, safe prasad distribution and emergency response. Each mandal is requested to nominate two volunteers for the workshop.

The workshop will cover key topics such as understanding disasters, risk identification, hazard management, emergency do’s and don’ts, fire safety with live demonstrations, first aid basics, and effective crowd control. Volunteers will be guided by experts from the BMC, Mumbai Fire Brigade, Police, civic hospitals, and BEST.
