Mumbai: A minor fire broke out at the Maharashtra Assembly (Vidhan Bhavan) on Monday afternoon. The blaze reportedly broke out due to a short circuit. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, the blaze was confined to electric wiring, electric installations, electric switchboard, etc. in the ground-floor entry checking room of Vidhan Bhavan compound. Visuals of the fire incident have surfaced on the internet.
Blaze Extinguished Immediately
The incident was first reported by a news channel around 3:00 pm and was swiftly brought under control by 3:06 pm. Firefighters responded immediately and the blaze was extinguished within minutes, preventing it from spreading further.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, and officials have confirmed that the situation is under control. Authorities are currently assessing the damage and ensuring that safety protocols are reinforced to avoid any recurrence.
An investigation into the exact cause of the short circuit is expected to follow. Despite the brief disruption, no impact on legislative operations has been reported.
Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar told media that situation in under control and everyone on the building premise is safe.
"The scanning machine caught fire. Nothing is connected to the establishment. There is a short circuit in the scanning machine due to an issue. Everything is under control, and everyone is safe," he told media.
