In a shocking case of cyber fraud reported from Mumbai’s Lower Parel area, a man was duped of ₹1.44 crore after being lured into investing in the stock market with promises of high returns. Based on the victim's complaint, the Central Cyber Cell has registered an FIR against two unidentified individuals and has begun a detailed investigation.

Mumbai: In a shocking case of cyber fraud reported from Mumbai’s Lower Parel area, a man was duped of ₹1.44 crore after being lured into investing in the stock market with promises of high returns.
Based on the victim's complaint, the Central Cyber Cell has registered an FIR against two unidentified individuals and has begun a detailed investigation.
According to cyber cell officials, the fraud occurred between March 10 and May 10, 2025, when the victim received a WhatsApp message from individuals identifying themselves as Professor Bharat Shah and his assistant Ria Rawat. They added him to a WhatsApp group and claimed to be representatives of the ASK Stock Group.

Using the group's fake investment tips and promises of substantial returns, the fraudsters convinced the victim to download a specific app and invest large sums through it. Over time, the victim ended up investing ₹1.44 crore. Upon realizing he had been duped, the victim approached the cyber police and filed a complaint. The case is under active investigation.
