Mumbai: Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell seizes nearly 2kg contraband worth ₹1.64 crore

The police have registered 6 cases based on the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act.

Mumbai Police on Monday revealed that the Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell seized drugs worth ₹1.64 crore last week which weight nearly 2 kilos.

The police have registered 6 cases based on the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act

The cops also revealed the amount and quantity of various types of contraband they seized.

"354 grams of MD worth ₹70,80,000; 92.4 grams of Heroin worth ₹27,72,000; 1.230 kgs of Charas worth ₹37,00,000 and 280 grams of Hydroponic Ganja worth ₹28,00,000.

"Total contraband weighs around 2 kgs, valued around Rs 1.64 crore," Mumbai Police said.

On April 14, the ANC’s Kandivali unit raided a 29-year-old man’s residence in Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali West, and found 280gm of hydroponic ganja worth Rs28 lakh. Four days later, the Worli unit conducted the second raid in Goregaon and seized 92.4gm of heroin valued at Rs27 lakh from a 34-year-old suspect.

In the third raid, the Bandra unit apprehended a man for possession of 354gm mephedrone worth Rs70 lakh. The Ghatkopar unit’s raids on April 20-21 in Chembur and Dharavi led to two arrests and seizure of mephedrone worth Rs36 lakh. A day later, the Kandivali unit’s raide on a 29-year-old man’s residence in Charkop led to seizure of 1.230kg of charas worth Rs37 lakh.

More such raids will continue in the coming days, the police said on the basis of tip-offs they have been receiving. The probe to ascertain links of the arrested accused is also underway.
