Mumbai: A day after a 35-year-old car dealer was stabbed to death in a road rage incident on the Eastern Expressway, the Mumbai Crime Branch on Monday arrested the man accused of the murder.
The accused, 22-year-old Suraj Jaiswal, a resident of Hariyali Village in Vikhroli East, had fled the scene after the attack. Crime Branch Unit 7 cracked the case after reviewing over two dozen CCTV recordings to trace his movements.
According to police, the victim, Zeeshan Shaikh, who ran a second-hand car dealership and lived in Vikhroli West’s Parksite area, was killed in broad daylight following a heated argument over a traffic dispute.
The incident occurred around 2.30pm near Ghatkopar. Shaikh was driving a white car accompanied by 19-year-old electrician Ali Mullad Haque. The two were headed to CST Road in Kurla to buy auto spare parts.
Jaiswal, who was riding a scooter with a woman as a pillion, allegedly took offence when Shaikh made an abrupt turn onto a service road. Enraged, he hurled abuses at Shaikh, prompting the latter to stop and confront him.
