Mumbai Consultancy Duped Of ₹7.5 Lakh In Fake Visa Scam; Rajasthan Travel Agency Owner Booked

The Mulund Police have registered a case of cheating against a Rajasthan-based travel agency named Swastik Immigration Tours and Travels and its owner, Pritam Singh, for allegedly duping a Mumbai-based consultancy firm of ₹7.5 lakh under the guise of providing work permits and visas for foreign countries

According to FIR, the complainant, Mittal Tank, 41, a branch manager at Beemars Consultancy located in Shanti Industrial Estate, Dr. R.P. Road, Mulund (West), approached Singh’s company after coming across its advertisement on Facebook and Instagram. The consultancy specializes in helping students and young professionals secure overseas education and job opportunities, and they often rely on third-party agents to handle documentation, job offers, and visa processing.

Mittal contacted the WhatsApp number mentioned in the ad and spoke with an individual who identified himself as Pritam Singh. Singh claimed his company could secure work permits for various countries and shared the details and fees. Based on this conversation, Mittal agreed to work with him.

Mittal's company assigned Singh the task of arranging work permits and visas for candidates going to New Zealand, Albania, and Ireland. Singh first provided three job offer letters for candidates bound for New Zealand and collected ₹1.5 lakh. A few days later, he sent two more offer letters for Albania and collected an additional payments. In total, Singh took ₹7.5 lakh from the consultancy for processing work permits and visas.

Doubts were raised when the flight tickets that Singh claimed to have booked were found to be merely on hold and unpaid. Sensing a scam, Mittal sent some people to Rajasthan, where they discovered that Singh had shut down his office and was untraceable.

Mittal lodged an official complaint with the Mulund Police via email on May 29. Acting on the complaint, the police have registered a case against Pritam Singh and Swastik Immigration Tours and Travels under relevant sections of the Bhartiy Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
