Residents of 11 civic wards in Mumbai will face a 10 per cent reduction in water supply, following damage to the Mumbai-II trunk main during construction work for the new bridge at Kopari in Thane west.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will undertake repair of the pipeline from March 9 to 11, as a result of which water supply will be affected from 10 am on March 9 to 10 am on March 11.

“During construction work, the 2,345 mm dia Mumbai-II trunk main was damaged and water is leaking. We will have to repair the pipeline to stop the leakage. The work will be completed in 48 hours. The places that will be affected include Dongri, Byculla, Nagpada, Parel, Wadala, and Sion areas. Bombay Port Trust and naval areas will also face a 10 per cent reduction in water supply.

In the eastern suburbs, Chembur, Mankhurd, Govandi, Mulund East and West, Bhandup East, Nahur, Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli East, Ghatkopar East and West, and Kurla East will also face a 10 per cent reduction in water supply.
