Mumbai: IAS Officers' Daughter, Anxious About Academic Performance, Dies After Jumping From Building Near Mantralaya; Suicide Note Found

Mumbai: IAS circles in Maharashtra was in a state of shock on Monday as news of the alleged suicide of the daughter of two of their colleagues, Vikas and Radhika Rastogi spread like wildfire. At 4 a.m. on Monday, a 27-year-old Lipi, who was a law student, reportedly jumped from the 10th floor of 'Suruchi' government quarters on Jagannathrao Bhosale Marg near Mantralaya. The security staff heard a thud and found Lipi in a pool of blood. She was rushed to GT Hospital near the city police head quarters where she was declared dead. She was pursuing a degree in law from O.P. Jindal University in Haryana. The reason behind the suicide was reported to be academic pressure. However, it is learnt that she was suffering from acute depression and was being counselled for the same.
According to the police, Lipi left behind a nine-page handwritten letter in which she said no one was to be blamed for her suicide. She also thanked her parents for everything that they have given her.
As per sources, Lipi was going through the last stage of depression for which she was being treated. Apparently, the psychiatrist had expressed concerned over her suicidal tendencies. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Cuffe Parade police station.
