Mumbai: In a dramatic late-night incident on Monday, a 29-year-old drunk driver lost control of his car while driving recklessly from Tardeo toward Worli. The vehicle broke through the roadside railing and plunged into the sea around 11:57 pm.
Brave Rescue by MSF
At the time of the incident, personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) — Assistant Security Officer Harichandra Vishe and security jawans Pandurang Kale, Suhas Kadsare, Akash Takate, Vikas Rathod, and Ramraje Chaudhary — were present at the spot.
Demonstrating quick thinking and bravery, they immediately jumped into action and rescued the driver, identified as Frashogar Darayush Battiwala, from the Sea.
Vehicle Retrieval
The car, which had sunk nearly 15 feet deep into the sea, was later retrieved around 7:30 pm on Tuesday evening with the assistance of local fishermen and the police, using magnetic lifting equipment.
Police Action
Following the incident, Worli Police registered a case against Battiwala under Sections 281, 125, 324(3), and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act (drunk driving).

Incident Details from FIR
The complaint was filed by Police Head Constable Mushir Rashid Tadvi (49), attached to Worli Police Station. According to the FIR, Battiwala was driving his Ertiga car dangerously on the Coastal Road Northbound near Naman Zana Building, opposite Madhav Thackeray Junction, heading toward Prabhadevi, when he rammed into the railing, causing damage to public property and his vehicle. Police have confirmed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Further investigation is underway.
