Mumbai: 1 killed, 2 injured after gas leak incident at Ghatkopar west
A 36-year-old man was killed and at least two others injured in a gas leakage incident at an industrial area in Ghatkopar west on Monday morning. All three, including the deceased, are believed to be workers at the unit where the incident occurred, said officials of the BMC disaster management unit.
The deceased, identified as Ramnivas Sarod, 36, and the other two, Rubin Solkar, 36, and Sarvansh Sonavane, 25, were rushed to the BMC-run Rajawadi Hospital in Vidyavihar, where Sarod was declared dead while the condition of the other two was described as stable.
The incident occurred around 8am when methanol and cyanuric chloride gas leaked, in the premises of a factory in Kurla Industrial Estate in Ghatkopar west. According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade which rushed there, Sarod died due to inhalation of the toxic gas.
