Monsoon Update: Central Railway Suspends Neral–Aman Lodge Toy Train Services, Matheran Shuttles To Continue Till Oct 15

Central Railway has announced a seasonal change in train operations on the Neral–Matheran narrow gauge line due to the onset of the monsoon. With effect from June 1 to October 15, 2025, toy train services between Neral and Aman Lodge have been suspended, while shuttle services between Matheran and Aman Lodge will continue to operate to facilitate tourist and local travel.

During this period, six pairs of shuttle services will run daily on weekdays, and eight pairs on Saturdays and Sundays between Matheran and Aman Lodge. "The decision has been taken keeping in mind passenger safety amid the challenging monsoon terrain on the hill route" said an official.

Each shuttle will run with a composition of three second-class coaches, one first-class coach, and two second-class-cum-luggage vans.

The Central Railway has urged passengers to take note of the revised schedule and make use of the available shuttle services during the monsoon season. According to sources, regular operations on the Neral–Aman Lodge section are expected to resume post-October 15, subject to weather conditions and safety assessments
