Mumbai: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) is set to introduce an online system for lease deeds and conveyance, aiming to streamline the process and enhance transparency. The initiative aligns with the state government’s 100-day action plan, as directed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
MHADA Vice President and CEO, Sanjeev Jaiswal announced the move during a review meeting at MHADA’s headquarters. Officials, including Mumbai Board Chief Officer Milind Borikar and Konkan Board Chief Officer Revati Gaikar, were present. The digital platform will eliminate manual intervention, speeding up the conveyance process—crucial for the redevelopment of aging housing colonies under MHADA’s Mumbai Board.
Housing societies seeking conveyance will need to submit a self-declaration form via the new system. Additionally, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be developed to streamline lease agreements under a Single Window System. Officials have been instructed to compile a database of MHADA properties, with an external agency conducting a survey of housing colonies to maintain accurate records.
Jaiswal also directed officials to submit reports on pending service charges and lease dues within two weeks. Measures to strengthen MHADA’s Encroachment Removal Unit, including increased manpower, CCTV installation, and security deployment, were also announced.
Furthermore, a biometric survey of 20,000 transit camp occupants will be completed by March 31, 2025, with unauthorized encroachments facing strict action. These reforms aim to modernize MHADA’s estate management, ensuring efficiency and improved service delivery for Mumbai’s residents.
