'Maharashtra To Lead India’s AI And Tech Revolution': CM Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra is accelerating governance and economic growth through technology and artificial intelligence (AI), and the state will soon lead the country’s AI and technology revolution, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Speaking at the NASSCOM Technology and Leadership Summit at Hotel Grand Hyatt, CM Fadnavis was interviewed by NASSCOM’s Srikanth Velamakanni. He highlighted the state's progress in digital services, stating that most government services are now available online. Additionally, the state government has established an AI Center at Mumbai University and partnered with the World Economic Forum to set up an industry hub.

Targeting a $1 Trillion Economy

Maharashtra has set a goal to achieve a $1 trillion economy, with a special focus on developing the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) into a $1.5 trillion economic hub. The state is collaborating with NITI Aayog to create a new economic roadmap to achieve this ambitious target.

Leading in Data Centers and Fintech

Maharashtra hosts 60% of the country’s data centers, and a Data Center Park is being developed in Navi Mumbai. By 2030, 50% of the state’s power generation will come from green energy. The Chief Minister also declared Mumbai as India’s fintech capital.

High-Tech Kumbh Mela in Nashik

The Kumbh Mela in Nashik, scheduled for 2027, will incorporate cutting-edge technology for crowd management, security, and virtual experiences. CM Fadnavis also praised the successful organization of the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh.

Advancing Technology in Agriculture

The state aims to double farmers' incomes through technology. Under the ‘Agri-Stat’ initiative, the entire farming process is being digitized. The ‘Drone Shakti’ program will train farmers in drone operations to reduce agricultural spraying costs.

Developing ‘Third Mumbai’ Around Navi Mumbai Airport

A new ‘Innovation City’ is planned around Navi Mumbai International Airport, making it one of India's most advanced cities. This 300-acre city will focus on technology, research, and AI development. Maharashtra will also develop Global Capability Center (GCC) parks in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Nashik.

CM Fadnavis invited industry and technology experts to contribute their ideas to these ambitious projects.
