Palghar, Maharashtra: Thousands of fish were found dead in a lake in Kudan village, near Tarapur. The incident occurred in a lake near Mali Stop, within the Kudan Gram Panchayat limits, and was discovered on Sunday morning by a local birdwatcher who had gone to the lake area for birdwatching.

The exact cause of the death of thousands of fish in the lake is unclear, as there is no industrial wastewater in the area, according to senior official. Representatives from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board's Tarapur office visited the site and collected samples of dead fish and lake water for testing.

Initial assessments point to two potential factors: a decrease in dissolved oxygen within the lake water due to the region's intense heat, or possible poisoning. Officials from the Pollution Control Board and revenue officers have visited the site to conduct a thorough investigation.
