Maharashtra News: 50-Year-Old Woman Preacher Found Murdered In Chinchadgaon Ashram

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 50-year-old woman religious preacher was murdered by an unidentified person who smashed her head with a stone in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, police said on Saturday.

The body of Sadhvi Sangitatai Maharaj was spotted in the morning by the priest of a temple in the ashram in Chinchadgaon area, where she was staying, an official said.

“The Sadhvi was staying in Sadguru Narayangiri Maharaj Kanya Ashram. The temple priest reached the ashram to perform the daily pooja ritual around 6.30am. When he called Sadhvi, he didn't get any response. She was found lying in a pool of blood in the temporary shed where she was staying,” a police official said.

As per the preliminary information, someone smashed Sadhvi's head with a stone when she was asleep.

“The lock of the temple was found to be broken. There is a temple nearby. We are checking whether anything had been stolen from there,” the official said.

The local police have pressed a forensic and dog squad to collect more information.

Local MLA Ramesh Bornare termed the incident as fortunate and demanded the immediate arrest of culprits.
