Maharashtra Monsoon Session 2023: State Govt Moves Proposal For Supplementary Demands Of ₹41,243 Crore
According to the information received, the sessions of both houses were adjourned after tabling ordinances, supplementary demands.

Maharashtra government moved a proposal for supplementary demands of Rs 41,243.21 crore on the first day of the monsoon session of the state legislature on Monday.
Of these, the demands worth Rs 13,091.21 crore are mandatory demands while demands worth Rs 25,611.38 crore are under planned program expenditure and demands worth Rs 2,540.62 crore are raised for the grants expected to be received under the schemes sponsored by the central government. Hence, the absolute load of the demands worth Rs 41,243.21 crore is actually Rs 35,883.31 crore, the proposal has said.
₹5,856 Crore For Jal Jeevan Mission & Namo Shetkar Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana
The major demands are as follows – Rs 5,856 crore towards the state’s share in Jal Jeevan Mission general factors and quality control and surveys and Rs 4,000 crore for transferring benefits to the beneficiaris under Namo Shetkar Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana that transferrs money to farmers.
Demand for Rs 3,563.16 crore has been raised to be able to give the arrers of seventh pay commission for teaching and non-teaching staff of the aided schools in the state and that of Rs 2100 crore has been raised to be able to pay the stamp duty on Metro Rail projects.
₹1,500 Crore Towards Basic Amenities in Villages and SC Members Benefits
Of the other demands, Rs 1500 crore have been demanded to be able to give basic amenities in the villages as directed by the people’s representatives; while demand for Rs 1415 crore has been raised towards the state’s share in the benefits for the SC members under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Moreover, demands for Rs 1398 crore have been raised to be able to give grants under 15th Pay commission; while demands of Rs 1200 crore have been demanded towards the special help in centres’ share of capital expenditure in the state.
₹1,100 Crore Towards Shravanbal Seva Rajya Nivrutti Yojana and MSRTC
Demands of Rs 1100 crore have been raised for general category beneficiaries of Shravanbal Seva Rajya Nivrutti Yojana and Rs 1000 crore are for the MSRTC towards rebets and grants. Rs 1000 crore have also been demanded for scheme of special allocation for the basic infrastructure development in the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Counil areas.
Allocation by Departments
Among various departments, the demands are distributed as follows:
Urban Development Department: Rs 6,224.55 Crore
Department of Water Supply and Sanitation: Rs 5,873.91 Crore
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy Development Department: Rs 5,219.80 Crore
School Education and Sports Department: Rs 5,121.10 Crore
Department for Social Justice: Rs 4,244.41 Crore
Public Works Department (PWD): Rs 2,098.47 Crore
Rural Development Department: Rs 2,070.66 Crore
Other departments with demands exceeding Rs 1,000 crore include Tribal Development, Women and Child Welfare, Public Health, Cooperation, and Home.
The proposed supplementary demands aim to address critical financial needs and support various developmental projects and welfare initiatives in the state.
