Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane Promises Support To Boost Inland Fish Production, Urges Tech Adoption

Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has assured that the government will extend all possible support to enhance fish production in freshwater bodies. He urged fisheries entrepreneurs to adopt modern technology, study successful models from other states, and focus on innovative methods to boost productivity in ponds and inland water bodies.

A review meeting was held at Mantralaya to discuss the challenges faced by inland fisheries in Dindori and Peth talukas and to explore possible solutions. The meeting was attended by Fisheries Commissioner Kishor Tawde, Deputy Secretary Kishor Jakate, senior department officials, and representatives of fisheries organizations from Dindori and Chandanpuri.

Minister Rane stated that the department’s role goes beyond implementing schemes—its primary goal is to strengthen the economic condition of those involved in the fisheries sector. He assured that the government will provide the necessary support through the department to address the concerns of the fisheries community.

Prior to the meeting, Sameer Potnis from Sharv Enterprises gave a presentation on the use of Indian-made Sharv AIS systems, which are to be installed on boats to help avoid collisions at sea.
