Mumbai: The Maharashtra government is exploring ways to streamline the admission process for international students by introducing a ‘Single Window System’ that would integrate application submission, document verification, fee processing, and other educational formalities.
In a meeting held at the state secretariat on Tuesday, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil emphasised the need for a more transparent and simplified admission process to attract foreign students. The proposed system aims to consolidate all admission-related procedures into a unified platform, reducing bureaucratic hurdles for students seeking admission to universities and colleges in Maharashtra.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary of the Technical Education Department B. Venugopal Reddy, Director of Technical Education Dr Vinod Mohitkar, Director of Higher Education Dr Shailendra Deolanakar, and Commissioner of the State Common Entrance Test Cell Dilip Sardesai. Discussions focused on potential challenges in implementation, technical requirements, and measures to ensure smooth execution.
